I've got thousands of Native Instruments Kontakt sampled instruments and effects on my hard drive, and I'd like to convert them into formats suitable for the sampling workstations actually I use most - namely, the Roland Fantom-G and the Alesis Fusion.
Can anyone recommend a cost-effective and versatile sample format conversion program, or a combination of programs, that would enable me to do this?
I've got the freeware Fusion Convertor, which will import and convert WAVE files (.wav), AIFF files (.aif and .aiff), Akai S-1000/3000 CD's. SoundFonts (.sf2) and Akai S-5000/Z-Series programs (.akp) to the Fusion.
And I've heard there's an equivalent Fantom Convertor program too, but the websites related to that mentioned in Google searches appear no longer to be operating.
There's also a program called Fantom YASE, which converts Akai formats to Fantom-compatible material.
However, it appears that none of these can do the full conversion 'journey' from NI Kontakt format to either Fusion or Fantom on their own.
Other conversion software I'm aware of includes Extreme Sample Converter, various products from Chicken Systems and CDXtract. Again, though, these all appear to be capable of only part of the process from NI Kontakt to my chosen hardware workstations.
Does anyone have experience of the above sample conversion packages or others I haven't mentioned? Which would you recommend?
